Do I need a Canadian Representative?

The Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) requires a Canadian Representative for all applicants who wish to certify their products that are mandatory to ISED Certification requirements.

How long is ISED Canada Representative Service required?

ISED requires the applicant to have a valid Application and Agreement for Certification Services for as long as the certified product is offered on the Canadian market.

What are the responsibilities of the ISED Canada Representative?

The ISED Canada requirements are outlined in RSP-100 Section 4.1 and DC-01 Section 6 as below.

4.1 Canadian representative

A Canada ISED Representative is required when the applicant’s company address is not within Canada. The applicant shall provide a signed Application and Agreement for Certification Services (see form A) in which the details of the company representative in Canada shall be clearly identified.

The Canadian representative shall be responsible for responding to all enquiries from ISED regarding the certified product(s), including providing audit samples at no charge to ISED. The applicant shall have a valid Application and Agreement for Certification Services for as long as the certified product is offered on the Canadian market.

6. Canadian representative

A Canadian representative is required when the applicant’s company address is not within Canada. The applicant shall provide a signed Declaration of conformity (DoC) and registration of terminal products (annex A) in which the details of the company representative in Canada shall be clearly identified.

The Canadian representative shall be responsible for responding to all enquiries from ISED regarding the registered terminal equipment(s), including providing audit samples at no charge to ISED. The applicant shall have a valid Declaration of conformity (DoC) and registration of terminal products for as long as the terminal equipment registered with ISED is offered on the Canadian market.
